Nike Dunks SB
Nike launched the Nike SB line in March of 2002 at the start of the rise of the Skateboarding trend. For years in California, the skate culture was very popular and skateboarding shoes and clothes were worn more as casual wear than by actual skateboarders. Nike saw the potential to tapping into this market and thus launched the Nike Skateboarding line.Nike launched their skateboarding lines on the back of the Nike Dunks SB. The Nike Skateboarding Dunks were the same shape and fit as the Nike Dunks, but with several performance changes.First of all, Nike knew that with the wear and tear of the foot, a good cushioning system was needed. Since skateboarding shoes need to have a low center of gravity, the Nike Dunks SBs had Zoom Air insoles. Next, the Nike Dunk SBs had extra padding added to the area around the ankle and to the tongue. The extra padding to the tongue did provide some extra cushioning between the top of the foot and the board, but it was more for cosmetic appearance than anything. Lastly, Nike beefed up the quality of the materials on the Nike Skateboarding Dunks. With double and triple stitching being the standard in the skateboarding shoe industry, Nike made the Dunks SBs much stronger than tradional dunks.
Nike SB captured alot of attention by releasing a pair of 'Charity Dunks' which were sold on eBay. These Nike Dunk SBs were 1 of only 2 pairs in the world . The shoes were made in the eBay colors and the Nike Dunk SBs ended up selling for over $30,000! The money all went to charity, but a wise move by Nike brough millions of dollars worth of advirtising by releasing these exclusive limited Nike Dunk SBs.
There have been many legendary Nike Dunk SBs. In fact, there are only a handful of Nike skateboarding shoes that sell for more than $150 that are NOT Dunk SBs. On the flip side, unless there are a ton of supply, it is rare to find a nice looking pair of Nike Dunk SBs selling for less than $150. Some of the most famous Dunk SBs are the first Supremes, Heinekens, Supas, Forbes, Mulder, Tiffanys, and Calis to just name a very few.
Nike SB Dunks are not sold everywhere, in fact they are often hard to find. The best way to find a place that sells them is to go to the official Nike Skateboarding website which is NikeSkateboarding.com. To talk it up about Nike Dunk SBs with other SB fans, check NikeSkateboarding.org.
There have been many special events celebrated with the Nike Dunk SBs. There were special skateboarding Dunks made for St. Pattys day in 2005. Also, there have been some ultra-rare Lebron Nike Dunk SBs even though Lebron James doesn't skate. The Nike Dunk SB was also the first shoe that Nike did colaborations with other artists and companies.
SB dunks sizing:
All sb dunks sizing are different and varies from shoe to shoe. The reason is because of the material they use to make the shoes. so it is best to ask someone that has the shoe already to see how they fit.
Gucci dunks
For the last time, they have been scraped.
What does B-grade mean for dunks?
It usually means that the shoe has some type of factory flaw or defect. Most of the time, you can’t even see this problem on the shoe. It’s most likely just some extra glue or something along those lines. B-GRADES ARE NOT VARIENTS.
Nike dunk SB laces
They are different from regular laces. More oval then others. You can't really pick these up just anywhere. There was some guy on NT selling a bunch similar to them.
Which sb dunk is looks better?
It is really based on your own preference which sb looks better. There is really no point of making a new thread asking all member this question. We all have our own opinions and speak our own minds. Do you. Not what someone else want.
Hype
what is hype? basically it is just something that alot of people want in anticipation. therefor "hyping" up the shoes. the perfect example would be the recent release of the tiffany diamond dunks. people started to talk about the shoes way before the release date. also people "camped out" over night(others a few days) for the shoe. this causes prices for the shoes to skyrocket.
Camping out
this term has been used mostly for sb dunks like no other. when a person "camps out" he is usually just staying the day before the shoes are released to the general public. doing this almost guarantees your chance of picking up the pair of shoes you want with out paying the high prices later.
Slept on
shoes that you "slept on" means shoes that you DID NOT camp out for. meaning you didn't stay up to wait for the shoes to drop. rather you slept on that chance and rather try your luck buying them online or on ebay for a much higher price.
SB
don't argue. it means SkateBoarding.
Differences between GR and SB dunks
gr dunks are General Release dunks. that means they are just released into the general public like any other shoe. most of the time these are just regular colorways with exceptions here and there. not alot of hype on these shoes.
sb dunks do NOT have a specific release date. this throws off the re-sellers from buying multiple pairs. there is usually hype on all sb dunks.
gr dunks do not come with stuffed tounge or a zoom air insole. sb dunks do. there are a few dunks that go both ways but i am not going to list them all
gr dunks usually come in a orange nike box. while sb dunks come in many colors. the oldest colorways came in orange boxes, the older colorways in silver boxes, the most recent being pink.
